"Can plants understand our language and feelings?" Once a man tried to find the answer to this question with his two cactuses. The man said very kind words to one of the cactuses. Every morning he put that cactus by the window and said to it, "Good morning, Cactus. How are you? You look very nice today. I'm going to go to work now. But after work, I'll be back as soon as I can. This is a very good place to enjoy the sun. Please be a good boy until I come home, dear." When he came home, he went to the window and said to the cactus, "Hello, I'm home. Were you lonely, dear? But it's O.K. now. I'm with you." When he went to bed, he put the cactus by his bed and said, "It's time for you to go to bed. Good night, dear." The man did not say kind words to the other cactus. He left it in the dark kitchen all day. Every time he saw it, he said, "You are a bad boy. Why do you look so angry with these thorns? I don't like you." After some months the first cactus had some flowers. The man thought it grew well because he gave it kind words. The other cactus didn't grow well. It didn't have any flowers. The man thought that both cactuses understood his words.
